Description

You lay eggs on the ground [this can be any block except ones in drinkables, and the Sewage System]. You get 50 experience points for every egg laid.

Strategies & Tips

As a Hen

  • Start laying eggs to get a decent amount of xp. This will be done passively each time you lay on the ground and your ability is ready. You won't be able to touch them, though.
    • If there are no predators, you can sit in one spot and gain free XP, be aware of approaching predators though.
  • You can also try and go after worms or bread since they give more XP, but there's also more competition and you don't have the ability to instantly eat them like the pigeon can.
  • You may use your eggs to bribe/convince other predators not to eat you, or other entities to help you, or in extreme cases, to make some predators hesitate if killing you or eating the eggs you lay. Don't do this to a reaper, though. Albeit the XP gained by killing you is rather small, they don't eat eggs, so if they go for you, run!
  • Your small size may allow you to get anywhere in the underground or the caves, but don't get to cocky, you are still blind below the surface and you are prey to several predators.
  • You can lay your eggs in a place people rarely go, such as the demonic biome underground or space, then when you evolve into a red bird, you can quickly eat them to gain exp fast. If you decide to go into space, stick to a cosmic plant to lay them because your oxygen won't deplete and all your eggs will look like 1 egg.

As a predator of the eggs

  • Eat them, they give a decent amount of XP and can be eaten in 1-2 bites. Just be careful of any predator that may want to eat you, or that may be interested in the eggs as well.

As a predator of the hen

  • Use their ability to your advantage, if you can't eat the eggs you can at least follow the trail (hens are forced to lay eggs each time they lay on any surface, each 6 seconds) if the hen you are hunting doesn't fly for long periods. Just take into account that if the trail is too long the hen may have already evolved (given it gains 50 XP per egg it lays).
  • Its small size may make it difficult for you to attack them, especially if you are a reaper, avoid them getting into the narrower caves you can't enter. However, if you are an animal with better vision in the underground, it may be profitable to force them getting into there where you have an advantage. Hens may also accidentally evolve into parrots due to their ability, restricting their movement more.

Trivia

  • It's the first animal capable of gaining experience through creation and not eating/killing something (if we don't count the stork's and turkey's ability, which technically say they eat the animal they find).
  • It's one of the current newest playable animal introduced.
